There Aint No Songs About Cowgirl Blues
"They teach us to believe in Santa Claus, right? And the Easter Bunny. Wondrous critters, both of 'em. Then one day they tell us, 'Well, there really isn't any Santa Claus or Easter Bunny, it was Mama and Daddy all along.' So we feel a bit cheated, but we accept it because, after all, we got the goodies, no matter where they came from, and the Tooth Fairy never had much credibility to begin with. Okay. So they let you dress up like a cowgirl, and when you say, 'I'm gonna be a cowgirl when I grow up,' they laugh and say, 'Ain't she cute.' Then one day they tell you, 'Look, honey, cowgirls are only play. You can't really be one.' And that's when I holler, 'Wait a minute!! Hold on!! Santa and the Easter Bunny, I understand; they were nice lies and I don't blame you for them. But now your screwing around with my personal identity, with my plans for the future. What do you mean I cant be a cowgirl?' When I got the answer, I began to realize there was a lot bigger difference between me and my brother than what I could see in the bathtub."-Bonanza Jellybean

Leave All Your Cards On The Table
“He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced--or seemed to face--the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.”

"Where The Seeds of the Dust Bowl Are Found"
"I’d like to rest my heavy head tonight On a bed of California stars I’d like to lay my weary bones tonight On a bed of California stars I’d love to feel your hand touching mine And tell me why I must keep working on Yes, I’d give my life to lay my head tonight On a bed of California stars I’d like to dream my troubles all away On a bed of California stars Jump up from my starbed and make another day Underneath my California stars They hang like grapes on vines that shine And warm the lovers glass like friendly wine So, I’d give this world just to dream a dream with you On our bed of California stars"

Ken goes to Toronto! Magpies on the 14th of March
Ken goes back to Toronto, the place where his conception did not take place, but events leading up to it were set in motion! Ken will be opening for the lovely yet generally questionable Jehan Khoorshed and his band at Magpies at 831 Dundas West, March 14th 9pm. Jehan will of course bring his 10 foot-long bullwhip, and remind all humans attending how fun sadomasochism can be!
Come if you Can!
